About Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation

What is it?

Sports Therapy is a dynamic and evidence-based practice that blends rehabilitation programmes, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. This therapy delves deeper into injury management, functional recovery, and optimised movement. Whether you're recovering from an acute injury, managing a chronic condition, or looking to enhance your physical capabilities, this service provides a comprehensive approach tailored to your needs.

It is great for:

This service can be used to treat any acute or chronic conditions that affect the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerves anywhere in the body. Anything from high impact sports injuries, through to back and shoulder injuries can be addressed and helped. In recent years, we’ve also helped a lot of people who have been working from home deal with their back pain! Sports Rehabilitation addresses not only physical recovery but also the psychological aspects of returning to physical activity, with programmes designed to improve performance while reducing the risk of re-injury, tailored to your sport or activity.

Will it help me?

It's a good idea to come and see a sports therapist if you are a sports individual recovering from injury or surgery, or looking to prevent injuries and optimise performance. We also help those dealing with chronic pain or musculoskeletal issues. This service is ideal for anyone aiming to improve their movement, strength, or flexibility!

What happens in a treatment?

Through comprehensive assessments, our Sports Therapists, equipped with specialist degree qualifications in sport and exercise science, apply their expertise and sports rehabilitation principles to identify the root causes of pain or dysfunction, enabling precise and effective treatment. From there, we develop a personalised plan to restore strength, mobility, and confidence following injury or surgery.

Depending on your plan, treatment can consist of the following:

- Trigger Point Therapy

- Posture analysis

- Gait and biomechanical analysis

- Stretching: Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), static and dynamic technique

- Neuromuscular training

- Peripheral and spinal joint mobilisations

- Exercise rehabilitation

- Deep tissue massage

- Soft tissue release

- Muscle activation using Muscle Energy Techniques (METs)

- Taping and strapping

- Corrective Frictions

Our aim is to get you back in full functional fitness and we will do that in conjunction with the whole Balance 360 team and work with the wider medical community, as needed, to support you on your journey to recovery.
