Are you working towards a big sporting event in 2025? The team at Balance 360 are here to help you every step of the way!
If 2025 is the year you're taking on a new challenge, you’re in the right place for support. Whether it’s a marathon, triathlon, joining a new sports club, or taking part in a cup game, there are many sporting events to look forward to throughout the year.
Whilst physical training is naturally an important part of the process leading up to the event, recovery and preparation can also play an imperative role both before and after.
Today we’re going to be running through how Balance 360 can help you to prepare for these sporting events, and some tips and advice to keep you on the right track outside of our appointments too!
How to train for the event
If you’re training for a major event or competition, one of the main things to note is to start slowly and build momentum. Although it can be tempting to simply get out there and go for it, it will ultimately leave you feeling disappointed. After all, the vast majority of us simply can’t just go out and run a marathon, without the proper preparation leading up to it.
Another thing to remember is the importance of rest. Whilst you might be focused on working hard and putting in the effort, you also need to remember that a break is as important as the training. This gives you the opportunity to rest, recover and reset for the next session/run/game.
The key idea is that you don’t want to push too hard, too quickly, otherwise you’ll leave yourself vulnerable to any injury. This is where the need for intentional recovery and our work comes in.
Planning for recovery and post-event support
As we mentioned above, rest days and recovery are as important as physical training when it comes to sporting events. There are also steps you can take to ensure your body remains in a good condition after the event has taken place.
When you’re training, it’s likely that you’ll find different muscle aches and pains that restrict your movements as you go on. Whether it’s pre-event or post-event, we have a number of services that will help you in these instances.
As the name would suggest, a Sports & Deep Tissue Massage is designed to target specific muscle groups, improving recovery and muscle function for athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
(Although outside of the purpose of this blog post, please note that anyone can book in for a Sports Massage for general aches, pains and maintenance!)
This service is ideal if you're recovering from an injury or seeking relief from intense training. If you’re training for an event, consider booking in regularly as part of your training plan, to maintain flexibility and prepare the muscles for intensive activity to come. Similarly, after the event, you can book in to help recover and repair the muscles.
The frequency depends on your activity level, goals, and any existing injuries. Athletes or individuals in training may benefit from weekly or bi-weekly massages, while others might opt for less frequent sessions - once a month or before/after an event.

This treatment involves increasing joint mobility, relieving muscle tension, enhancing the blood supply to tissues and helping the body to heal. It can be particularly beneficial after a big event such as a marathon, as it can help with reducing pain, and improving mobility as well.
Depending on your personal requirements, your appointment may involve a series of techniques, including physical manipulation, stretching and massage with the aim of: increasing the mobility of joints and range of motion, relieving muscle tension, enhancing the blood supply to tissue and helping the body to heal.
You’ll also benefit from the tailored and personalised approach that our team offers, taking the time to understand your individual history and circumstances, and applying the correct treatment to help resolve the issue.

Acupuncture is part of an integrated approach in treating pain and inflammation, which is going to be particularly useful after a sports event, where the body needs that extra attention.
This service is great for treating pain that manifests in a variety of forms: chronic pain; joint pain; and muscle pain. It can additionally be taken one step further with Electroacupuncture, helping to stimulate nerve and muscle tissues. This can improve blood flow and promote tissue regeneration, and has been used to treat a range of conditions, with one example being back pain.
